UNIZIK-ANAN Centre for Accountancy Research Studies was commissioned by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR , President and Commander in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria on 17th March, 2017 and became effective through the Memorandum Of Understanding between ANAN and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka on 3rd day of September, 2018 to robustly extend the advancement of the Science of Accounting Education and Research, pioneering a multi-disciplinary approach to production and training of well-rounded, well-blended and well-honed professionals deep in knowledge, skill and ethics in conduct of tasks
VISION:
To create a Centre of excellence as a premium brand of choice to advance accounting education and research with deep technological capabilities.
MISSION:
To develop a well-honed professionals profound in knowledge and enviable skill and standards capable of driving moments in South –East Industrial revolution.
THE MANDATE:
The Centre is mandated to cooperate and collaborate in the areas of research activities covering the following:
- Executive Training and Consultancy:
The Centre will seek organizations collaboration in capacity building for executive training and consultancy. The Centre is expected to train professionals through a multi-disciplinary approach through practical trainings and workshop for Managers, Accountants, Financial Analyst, Bankers, Stockbrokers across a wide spectrum of civil service and private sector. It is noted that knowledge of digital technology is the key competency areas where professionals across have skill gaps they will need this skill to provide in-inclusive corporate reporting which tells less about persons but organizations to develop the future generations of managers, accountant, finance experts etc.
- Annual Lecture Series Through Endowment:
The Centre shall through its internal and external linkages organize a robust annual lecture series for proven personality across Nigerian with remarkable impact in government, business and private life. The resource persons of proven training and experience will be sought from private and public to lead this annual lecture series to the benefit of the benefactor of the endowment funds.
- Journal of Contemporary Issues in Accounting (JOCIA):
The Centre deems this very essential to collate plethora of well researched publishable works across accounting education, research, profession and practice. The Journal is published in both print and on-line version in April, August, and December of each year. This will improve teaching practice, promote effective learning and encourage research-based practice and knowledge production and finally help, in building a professional career for our PhD and Masters students.
Annual Conference:
The Centre is mandated to hold a conference on burning national issues in account education and research annually through an integrated multi-disciplinary approach to develop the industry and deepen the knowledge economy of today and tomorrow.
Workshop and Seminars
The Centre provides a platform for workshops and seminars that will help refine the skills of professionals and make a mark in Accounting Contemporary Issues.
Internal and External Collaboration through Networking
The Centre shall seek to develop capacity in profession and encourage adoption of global practices and influence voice to represent the university and the profession and air views on current debates and work to enhance reputation and credibility of the profession. The Centre shall be involve in thinkers support, innovation and collaboration to corporations especially the spread of digital technology and their Impact on business to transform the practice of accounting and competences that the professional accountants needs. This will involve extending to internal and external linkages to professional accounting bodies such as ANAN, ACCA, ICAN, Stock brokers, Financial Analyst etc.
Research Colloquium.
The Centre shall organize colloquium to provide a refine place of originality which showcases not only the special knowledge but also analytical and written skills.
Discussants to this event shall be chosen from diverse spectrum of professionals
